How can beverage stations and coffee makers enhance the party experience?
One of my favorite things to plan for a party is beverage stations. A self-serve drink area is not only a fun way to pamper your guests with special details they might not usually get in their own homes (like a custom drink stirrer, flavored syrups, and fun garnishes) but also helps to take the task of physically getting drinks for everyone off my plate.
You can work your party theme into a drink station with curated drinkware and signage, but even the most simple beverage bar lets people take control of making their drinks how they like them, which people LOVE! A beverage station works for mocktails (think ice cream float station) as well as cocktails (a Moscow Mule bar is easy and delicious), but you can even create a special drink area for coffee. Whether you use a coffee maker and carafe to keep it warm or a single-serve coffee maker, you will see the delight as your guests explore the flavorings, creamers, and toppings you’ve set out for them.
I like to look for unique products to serve on my drink stations to make their beverage extra memorable. I love using large glass drink dispensers to serve a signature drink or even spa water for my guests. They look visually appealing and help draw people to them. And my favorite part is you can quickly see if you need to refill them while still enjoying the party.

When planning for a party, always plan around a theme. It may sound simple enough, but it requires discipline to keep all items within a theme, including decor and food. Planning everything around a theme will convey a feeling of visual cohesion and elegance to your party that cannot be achieved otherwise.
Your theme can be as simple or as specific as you like. Two or three colors kept throughout the event space can be visually appealing, but if you go deeper and start choosing foods with the same colors and dishes that match and start naming your foods creatively within the theme, you’re now planning an event, not just a party.
For example, at our Hunger Games birthday party, we not only designed a dystopian market area but also planned our foods to represent each specific district and had fun with the names. We called Red Wines “Electrical wires” for District 3 and served fishy crackers for District 4. We also planned games and a whole scavenger hunt around winning the Hunger Games.
I’ll give you bonus points if you get everyone to dress on theme too. Think 80’s party where everyone is asked to come dressed as a famous 80’s character or a tropical backyard party where flower shirts are strongly recommended. If you’re planning something elegant but casual, ask for everyone to dress in the boho style or stay within a specific color theme. You’ll have guests anticipating and thinking about your party days in advance and excited to come and show off their outfits.
So, choose a theme, stick with it, and see how deep you can go with it. Your guests will talk about your party long after it’s over.
